– So many families are using Facebook to connect… and many are using it as their primary means of photo backup… but what happens if… This is a great service (and cheap) that allows you to get your pictures and friends back out of Facebook. I hope they have the ability to back up your status updates, comments and so forth. That is an important part of who we are today!

– Alright… this is just an awesome app… lots of quotes, and categories… links to move video. What a great resource!

– This is also a fantastic idea. As we all know, technology is fantastic for moving the work along, but we need to inform our kids, and adults, and teach them how to keep themselves safe from predators, pornography, and other dangerous materials.

Calendar App for Facebook

– What a great idea! We should so have some facebook developers working to interface the ward information with facebook! That would especially be useful for the youth!

99 Cents Could Buy A House

– This is a brother from the church donating 100% of all the proceeds from the purchase of this song to build a home for refugees. Come on… it’s .99 cents. Even I can help out with this one… and I get a song in return! Sweet! It’s got a nice 60′s/70′s feel to it!

Provo and Orem do not disappoint when it comes to drinking and smoking

– This has list of “Heaviest Drinking Metro Areas” and “Most Sober Metro Areas.” Provo falls in the second category, but I was surprised to see two of my North Carolina towns in the Most sober top ten as well! Go NC!!

Ward/Stake calendar subscriptions

– Did I mention I love the LDSTech Forums? Here is another great post that has a link off to the product line for the church calendaring system. Now if we could actually make some progress on getting this stuff developed and implemented… I so wish I could contribute more than ideas… perhaps one day! (I just need to learn a programming language that would be useful!)

Emergency Notification and Texting

– This would be an awesome addition to the church system. I said as much on the forum, but just to repeat here. It could be set up on an opt-in basis. I know many, many folks would like this type of functionality… especially leaders of youth!

I did some research into SMS texting a while back for my job and the big drawback is getting a SMS number to text from. It was absurdly expensive (like $30K a month or something like that). Now granted, this was a couple of years ago and there are a lot of free services out there that offer SMS as part of the software (Read: Google Voice), so maybe the prices have come down, or maybe we could tie into one of these online services.
