Just another VansWebsites.com site
– This is a mission president’s blog, and he mentions some custom software they wrote to analyze the numbers for the week… very interesting. Another great example of technology and the gospel.
– This is a fantastic article about opening up education to all people… and even better… one of the guys featured is a professor from BYU, David Wiley! Go Brother Wiley!
– Great new website to help folks figure out why we believe what we believe and articulate that to others.
“The purpose of SquareTwo is to develop the finest online journal of LDS thought concerning the important issues of the world today, whether those be international issues, domestic issues, ethical issues, technological issues, etc. “
– Another great read I enjoyed… I have found myself thinking most of the things on the list of attitudes that I am immune from the danger of infidelity.
– Great article for working to be better people. Loved this!
– Great question… all of these great tools out there can be applied to families… this would be great!
– Great new MormonMessages Video about the wonderful women in our lives – from President Hinckley
– So many families are using Facebook to connect… and many are using it as their primary means of photo backup… but what happens if… This is a great service (and cheap) that allows you to get your pictures and friends back out of Facebook. I hope they have the ability to back up your status updates, comments and so forth. That is an important part of who we are today!
– Alright… this is just an awesome app… lots of quotes, and categories… links to move video. What a great resource!
– What a fantastic idea to connect families that have folks over seas.
– A good summary of all the recent findings about Mormons.
– For those that have had this question, I had to do the same thing, and I used Mapalist.com. It allows you to keep download the data and map to a local computer so it is not online somewhere.
It works great too!
– This is also a fantastic idea. As we all know, technology is fantastic for moving the work along, but we need to inform our kids, and adults, and teach them how to keep themselves safe from predators, pornography, and other dangerous materials.
– What a great idea! We should so have some facebook developers working to interface the ward information with facebook! That would especially be useful for the youth!
– Great new video about Temple’s and ancient altars. Really liked the part about families gathering around the altar… especially when we think about our homes as temples today!
– Haha… this one is great!!
– Great compilation of all the LDS twitter feeds!! Thanks for putting this together David.
– This is a fantastic report of all sorts of data about the LDS church and its members. I found it very fascinating to read!
– What a fantastic idea! I had heard of this but it never occurred to me to use this type of help move the work of genealogy forward!
– Love technology that gets me free books!!
– Oooh.. this looks like a good series to follow! I’m looking forward to hearing who they feature!
– This is a brother from the church donating 100% of all the proceeds from the purchase of this song to build a home for refugees. Come on… it’s .99 cents. Even I can help out with this one… and I get a song in return! Sweet! It’s got a nice 60′s/70′s feel to it!
– This has list of “Heaviest Drinking Metro Areas” and “Most Sober Metro Areas.” Provo falls in the second category, but I was surprised to see two of my North Carolina towns in the Most sober top ten as well! Go NC!!
– Did I mention I love the LDSTech Forums? Here is another great post that has a link off to the product line for the church calendaring system. Now if we could actually make some progress on getting this stuff developed and implemented… I so wish I could contribute more than ideas… perhaps one day! (I just need to learn a programming language that would be useful!)
– This would be an awesome addition to the church system. I said as much on the forum, but just to repeat here. It could be set up on an opt-in basis. I know many, many folks would like this type of functionality… especially leaders of youth!
I did some research into SMS texting a while back for my job and the big drawback is getting a SMS number to text from. It was absurdly expensive (like $30K a month or something like that). Now granted, this was a couple of years ago and there are a lot of free services out there that offer SMS as part of the software (Read: Google Voice), so maybe the prices have come down, or maybe we could tie into one of these online services.
