Musings, Technology and The Gospel
– The 1st of a 30 volume series – Joseph Smith Papers is released today. This will be a series of books that has impact for years to come much like the “History of the Church” has been for the past geneations!
– Great compilation of what we learned this past conference! Great video that really shows what we believe as well!! Well done!!
– The first big project from the LDS tech community is the Home Teaching/Visiting Teaching application. It looks like they came out with a new version today! Awesome! I wish I was in a position to try this out! But I can certainly pass the word on!
[UPDATE: Apparently this is not the one the tech community is working on. It is the one Brad Oldham is working on. Either way... great to see a new version out!]
– This is a great article about a brother who is committed to keeping a history. It mentioned in the article that he kept an oral history for a long time using cassettes. It dawned on me that a lot of the voice recognition software being developed right now (Think Google’s voice recognition search for iPhone) is going to be useful one day for computers to listen to those thousands of hours of histories and transcribing it.. even helping us find our ancestors for temple work! Amazing how the Lord works!
– Another great forum post on LDSTech. One to keep your eye on. It suggest adding the ability to annotate the scriptures online. This is something I have wanted to see for a while and tried to mimic in countless ways. Nothing ever seems to be quite right…
– As I have mentioned before I love music! I have build my own webserver just to listen to music. Well, this is my Holiday station I created on Pandora. It gives me more variety. I love Pandora!! I am a big fan of Mannheim Steamroller and Trans-Siberian Orchestra… so this is my station for them! I’m sure I will be listening to this a lot this month!
