Musings, Technology and The Gospel
Just read about a new Google Chat option that I think is pretty sweet. You can now embed a widget on a blog that will allow ANYONE, even those without Google accounts to chat with you. I have embedded one on my blog, so feel free to chat with me.
Uses for church? Could be used by missionaries as another communication method. Mostly I just think it is cool.

Jeff,
Being more of a MS fan than a Google fan I thought I would comment that for Windows Live Messenger this has been available for 3 or 4 months now (they are on the second rev already). I have not put the Live Messenger control on my blog yet because of concerns I have about anyone using my IM to contact me – that same concern would go for the Google control as well – there needs to be a better SPAM story or else things could get out of control really fast (much like how CAPCHA came about when blog comment spam went crazy!).
Great insight Bryan. I didn’t know about the MS stuff. I am an avid technology news reader, but MS just doesn’t make it into the news enough. They really do have some great products, but no one hears about them enough.
There’s also a similar product, http://www.hab.la that also lets you chat with visitors on your website — may be worth a look
